Clover Printer Troubleshooting
Remain calm, follow the steps! Check all the connections!
If the Clove Mini will not turn on use green power button behind the paper roll
Error Symbol
If the Clover Mini has the symbol – pull down from top left of screen to read error messages.
(Print job went to cue) or (Connection Error)
Connections
- Every hub must have 2 things plugged in at all times: the Ethernet cable and the power cord
- Switches and Routers must ALWAYS have 3 cords plugged in
- Ethernet cable that internally runs through the rail car-this cable connects the two switches (Bar and Server station)
- Ethernet cable that runs from workstation (Mini) to the switch
- Ethernet cable that connects the printer to the switch (either Kitchen or Bar)
If printer still not connecting
If the external printer (the Order Printer) still doesn’t connect, the system may need rebooting, To do this:
- Turn off both printers
- Reboot both of the Mini workstations (never shutdown)
- Once Mini’s are fully back on, Switch the printers back ON
If after these steps the printers are still not connecting
You may need to reassign and rename the external printers.
To do this:
- Turn one of the two printers off. (remember which one you turn off and which one is still on, either Kitchen or Bar, you will need to rename printer after assigning it)
- Select the printer app on the Clover Mini
- Tap the green “plus” sign in the lower right hand corner
- You may need to wait several seconds but an order printer should then pop up
- Tap the printer and it will then be assigned
- Tap the printer again after assigning it to rename and choose where to set printer
- To rename: tap on the name line and a keyboard will pop up, label Kitchen or Bar
- To assign what tickets will go to that printer, check or uncheck the three boxes at the bottom of that screen labeled Kitchen, Dining Server or Bar (only use Bar or Kitchen to send tickets to and click the box you want the tickets to go to)
Printer Connection
The printer must be ONLINE to send tickets – to check Clover Mini online status - look at the printer app
- The printers should auto-connect but if for some reason it does not, turn printer off, wait 10 seconds and turn printer back on
Printer must have 2 things plugged into it, the power cord and the Ethernet cable.
No lights on the printer means there is no power to the machine, try checking:
- The on/off switch to make sure it is turned on
- The power cable is plugged in.
Printers not printing when connected
If green light is on and workstation says the printer is online but no tickets print:
- Check that the paper is installed properly
If the red and orangey-yellow light is flashing on the front of the printer, that means no network is detected. Find the cable that is not plugged in and plug in. This should fix non connection issue. If the printer does not auto connect right away, follow reboot process above.
If the two lights are flashing on the printer, check Ethernet cables both on the printer and the switch at the server or bar station.
Check if the Switch has is power. Both switches need to be hooked up to power!!
The power strip acts as a surge protector for the Mini device (Mini must always be plugged into battery backup)
If we lose HEP power and the printers shut down, we must ensure they auto connect when they come back online again. Turn the power off on the printers and wait until HEP returns then turn printers on again. If HEP is gone for long enough to cause the Mini’s to shut down as well, shut down power to printers, let Mini’s come back online fully, turn back on the printers and they should auto connect.
